Daily Readings: Joshua 3 and Psalm 3

Lord, deliverance comes from You, of this I have no doubt. Yet very often You give me a role to play in that deliverance. The priests were instructed to lift up the Ark of the Covenant and carry it into a raging river in flood on the basis of Your promise to stop the river and make it stand up like a wall. By faith that was exactly what they did. When they acted in faith-filled obedience, You acted in faithful deliverance. I stand in awe of Your faithfulness and of their faith. Holy Spirit, please grant me the spiritual gift of faith, and empower me to stand up and act in obedience to Your leading today – even when it feels as though You are taking me into a raging river. In the Name of my Saviour Jesus I pray. Amen.
