Daily Readings: Joshua 12 and Psalm 12

 One reason we don’t get all that excited reading this list of conquered kings is that we weren’t involved in the conquest. This is a list of the famous victories God won (against all the odds) on behalf of the Israelite under Joshua’s leadership. It was recorded to remind them of all that God had done for them and through them. It is, in fact, quite a helpful discipline to reflect from time to time on what God’s grace has accomplished in and through us. After all, the time may well come when we need to be reminded of what God has done “yesterday” to encourage us for the new struggles we’re coming up against in our todays.

Lord of yesterday, today and tomorrow – thank You for granting me victory in so many ways in the past. Make me bold to face today, in the sure and certain confidence that no matter what comes my way, You are able to give me the victory again. Amen.
