Daily Readings: Joshua 17 and Psalm 17
In Psalm 17:7-8 the psalmist prays, “Show me the wonders of Your great love, You who save by Your right hand those who take refuge in You from their foes. Keep me as the apple of Your eye, hide me in the shadow of Your wings.” It is a wonder that the perfect, holy God of all creation would love fragile, fallen, sinful people at all. It is a wonder that He would care for us and provide for us. But what an astounding wonder it is that this God should love us with an everlasting love and consider us to be “the apple of His eye”.
Lord, I marvel at the greatness and glory of Your unfailing love. I stand amazed that You love me just as I am, despite all my weaknesses and failings. Today I choose to take refuge in You and to trust Your loving leadership, Your guidance and goodness. Please grant me the confidence that is born of faith, so that I may tackle all of life’s challenges and accomplish great victories, in ways that bring You glory and cause Your eye to sparkle with pleasure. Amen.
