Courage

Daily Readings: Judges 3 and Psalm 27

How can King David say so courageously: “Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me, even then I will be confident”? He answers that question himself in v.1: “The Lord is my light and my salvation” and “The Lord is the stronghold of my life.” The focus of his heart and the reason for his confidence was Almighty God his Saviour. God was always present to David, and because of that wonderful combination of God’s love and power, David was not ruled by fear, but remained confident that he would “see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

Almighty Father, thank You for being with us every moment of every day by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, Your children. We truly have no reason to fear. Yet, so often we get caught in a spiral of worry or anxious doubt. Please help us, Holy Spirit, to keep trusting in the power and love of our Heavenly Father at all times, so that the peace that passes understanding may guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amen.
