Daily Readings: Judges 14 and Psalm 38
Judges 14:3-4 reminds us yet again of the sovereign and inexplicable ways of God. Even Samson’s apparent rudeness, stubbornness and disrespect for parental advice (which is not God’s will) can be turned around by God to accomplish God’s plans and purposes. While this might be very puzzling and needs some deliberate reflection, it also gives me personally a great sense of relief. God’s perfect plans for me do not depend entirely on me figuring it out, or on me making myself good enough. Sure, I must cooperate with the will of God to the very best of my ability with the help of the Holy Spirit, but even my imperfections (and they are many) cannot derail the Lord’s good purposes in the end. Thanks be to God for His sovereign grace.
Heavenly Father, all praise and thanks belong to You for Your sovereign and gracious work in our lives. Please forgive me for the times I have rebelled against Your will and Your ways, and please lead me in the everlasting plan You have for my life. Amen.
