Daily Readings: 1 Samuel 14 and Psalm 60
1 Samuel 14 provides a stark contrast between Saul, sitting under a pomegranate tree, and Jonathan, trusting God and bravely taking on the Philistine camp. Saul seemed paralysed by the need to consult the priest and make lots of sacrifices before doing anything practical. Jonathan seemed to walk in a practical, trusting relationship with God. He was a man of faith-fueled action, and his actions led to a great victory by the grace of God.
Heavenly Father, please help me to step out in faith-fueled action today. Lead me step by step, and empower me as I follow, so that Your name may be glorified and Your kingdom may come through me. Give me courage to attempt great things for Your glory, and give me the faith to expect great things from Your mighty hand. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
