Impossibilities made possible

Daily Readings: Daniel 2 and Psalm 143

By God’s grace, Daniel and his companions had been found to be “ten times better” than all the magicians and enchanters of Babylon in every matter of wisdom and understanding (1:20). They were now classed among the “wise men” of Babylon. Later, however, when a group of royal magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers could not comply with the king’s impossible demand to interpret a dream without being told what the dream was, the young Jews were also sentenced to be executed along with the other “wise men” of Babylon.

But, with the Lord, nothing is impossible. After seeking God desperately with the help of his three friends, Daniel received a vision of the dream and its interpretation from the Lord. This breakthrough gave Daniel the opportunity to glorify God in the sight of the Emperor:

“There is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries … (v.28) and … the great God has shown the king what will take place in the future” (v.45).

In response to this wondrous turn of events and Daniel’s miraculous gift of prophecy, Nebuchadnezzar worshipped God saying: “Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries!”

Are you facing a seemingly impossible situation today? Is there a challenge you feel woefully inadequate to overcome? Is someone placing an impossible demand on you? The great God of gods and Lord of kings is more than able to empower you to overcome these situations by the power of His Spirit Who lives in you through your faith in Jesus. Let’s stand together in prayer to the LORD of heaven and earth!

Heavenly Father we raise before Your throne of grace the impossible situations our sisters and brothers face today. For the glory of Your Name and out of love for Your children, please gift and empower us to overcome, and to be more than conquerors through the power of Jesus’ Name! Amen.
