Lord of Glory

Daily Reading: Luke 2:8-20

Is it somehow significant that God chose Bethlehem’s shepherds to be the first to hear an announcement of the Messiah’s birth? I believe it was. The shepherds of this region are known to have been the major suppliers of lambs for the Temple sacrifices. To me it’s deeply significant that they were the frist to receive the news of the birth of “the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.” (John 1:29)

I invite you now to re-read the passage and to prayerfully consider what the angelic birth announcement reveals to you about this Jesus. Then turn your reflection into a prayer of praise to Jesus.

Here is mine:

Jesus, Lord of Glory, Saviour King of all the world, You are worthy of all reverence and awe. I bow before You to acknowledge You as my Lord and King, and I worship You.

Jesus, Your living presence is always good news that brings great joy! Then as a baby, now as the risen and ascended Lord who sends forth Your Spirit; You are the perfect Joy-Giver and I worship You.

Jesus, I join with the hosts of heaven to ascribe all the honour and all the glory to You alone. You are the Peacemaker who brings me home from my life of sin, right to the throne of grace and into the loving embrace of God. There is no one and nothing that compares to You. I worship You, now and forever. Amen.
