We Christians are called to be a people who connect with God in passionate worship, connect to one another in love, and also connect to the world around us, pouring out the Living Water of the Spirit to make the world a more beautiful and fruitful place. Today we focus on this latter call to be connected to the world as we read Psalm 103.
Psalm 103 should inspire us to worship passionately through its beautiful declarations of the magnificent qualities of God, but it is also a call to action. Christ-followers should respond to the character of God by expressing, “living out” and manifesting His character through our own lives too, in the power of the Holy Spirit.
In light of Psalm 103, our call is to live Christ-like, Godly lives by forgiving others repeatedly, praying for others’ healing, actively seeking the highest best of others in love, acting compassionately towards others in their struggles and pain, behaving righteously in a proudly sinful world, pursuing justice for the oppressed, personifying grace, and enduring hardship patiently. When we live in these ways, we become conduits of the love and goodness of God to all those around us, and God’s world becomes a more beautiful place to live. This is our call.
Heavenly Father, Eternal God of perfect goodness and love, please transform me into Your image by the indwelling Holy Spirit and flow through me into my world today, to manifest Your glory and goodness. Amen.
