Permanent Peace

Daily Reading: 2 Thessalonians 3:16

16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

When the apostle Paul wrote this letter to them, the Thessalonian Christians were experiencing great persecution. In 2 Thess. 1:4 Paul wrote: “Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.”

In the midst of these very painful circumstances, Paul blessed them by praying that the Lord of Peace himself would give them peace and that He would do so at all times and in every way. Paul was praying that they should be soaked in the peace of the Lord permanently because the Lord of peace was with them permanently. Their peace would not come from a change in their circumstances (although I am sure Paul would have prayed for this too). Instead, their peace would come from the Prince of Peace being with them in the storm.

If you are currently facing a storm of any kind, whether physical illness, spiritual attack, mental illness, loss of income, death of a loved one, the break-up of a relationship, or any other difficult set of circumstances, be sure of this: The Lord of Peace is with you!

Lord of Peace, You are with me. Please deliver me from my storms and, for as long as that deliverance takes, please grant me perfect peace through Your personal presence and power being with me in the midst of my storms. Amen!
