Daily Reading: Acts 1:6-14

Lord Jesus Christ, You are a promise-making, promise-keeping God. Thank You for the precious promise of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Thank You for promising that He will empower me to be Your witness in the world.

Gracious Lord, forgive me for those moments and seasons when, like Your first apostles, I have been so concerned with figuring out the finer details, or troubling over times and dates, or gazing intently at secondary concerns, that I have failed to obey Your straightforward call to bear witness to Your glory and Your Gospel.

Help me to refocus, as they did to their great credit, and to give myself intentionally to the pursuit of a greater fullness of the Spirit and a greater obedience to Your missional call. As I anticipate the great Feast of Pentecost next Sunday, build in me a holy anticipation of a fresh outpouring of the Spirit, and a holy commitment to surrendering to the missional-empowerment of the Spirit. In Your precious Name. Amen.
