Making Disciples on Friday

Daily Reading: Acts 8:1-25

Heavenly Father, truly You turn all things around for Your glory and our good.

You turned around Stephen’s devastating death and the widescale persecution it unleashed, and used them to catapult the early Church into the mission field of Samaria.

You turned around the darkness of demonic oppression that was so prevalent in Samaritan society and, by releasing and delivering the oppressed, You not only set them free, but gave the entire City reason to rejoice. You took the fledgling faith of many new believers in Christ and so radically displayed Your power in them by Your Holy Spirit that all around could observe His effect on their lives.

You turned Simon’s heart away from the self-centred art of sorcery to the saving grace of Jesus; and, when he slipped back into his old ways of thinking, You used that moment of darkness to draw him deeper into a full commitment and submission to Your Lordship.

As You did in Jerusalem and Samaria, Lord, please be at work in my life today to turn all things around for Your glory and my good. Take my weakness, my fallibility and my inadequacy, and use me anyway to display Your power, to glorify Your holy Name and to bring Your Kingdom to earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
