Tuesday Show and Tell

Daily Reading: Matthew 9:35 – 10:8

Lord Jesus, how wonderful it must have been to witness Your powerful ministry first-hand, and to witness You teaching with authority, preaching the best news ever heard, and healing every disease and illness. Thank You for ministering with such compassion. I am deeply humbled by the thought of Your heart being so deeply moved by our human confusion and helplessness.

Please forgive me when I have failed to feel the same compassion towards others and have instead turned my attention inwards, avoiding their struggles and centring only on my own agenda. Forgive me when I have disobeyed Your command to pray for workers to be sent into the harvest field for fear that You might send me!

As I reflect on the mission You gave the Twelve, I am reminded that You never send people without empowering them. You never demand anything of us for which You do not also supply the power. This day, help me to identify what I have “freely received” from You as equipment for ministering to others, and give me the grace to “freely give” myself away for the sake of the lost and broken. I long to be a conduit of Your restoration to others, in both Gospel words and Gospel actions. Use me today, I pray.

Amen!
