Psalm 147

Daily Readings: Psalm 147 and Psalm 130

Today you’re invited to memorise Psalm 130:7-8

7 Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
for with the Lord is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
He himself will redeem Israel
    from all their sins.

First commit these verses to memory and then meditate on them throughout the day in light of Psalm 147:11:

the Lord delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love.

Psalm 130:7-8 and 147:11 clearly proclaim that we can absolutely confidently put our hope in the Lord because of His steadfast, unfailing love. “Unfailing love” is one of the most beautiful ways the new English translations render the Hebrew word “hesed”. This word describes a love that is kind, merciful, faithful and never-failing. This is a love that never gives up and never breaks its promises.

The LORD’s love for you is absolutely unfailing. It is steadfast, faithful and true. No matter who you are or what you have done, the Lord’s love for you has never failed and never will. He always desires your highest best, because His love is unfailing! Even when your heart has wandered far from Him, His unfailing love will always receive you home again. Trust in His unfailing love. When you feel completely alone in this world, He is always there beside you because of His unfailing love for you. Trust in His unfailing love. When pain, disease or brokenness assail you, He will always be at work to turn these experiences around for your good, because of His unfailing love. Trust in His unfailing love. It is the bedrock foundation of Who God is, and of why we can so completely and absolutely trust Him at all times.

Lord, today I choose to put my hope and trust entirely in You, because of Your unfailing love for me. Amen.
