What we need

Daily Reading: Hebrews 10:24-25

24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

As the Day of the Lord comes closer … as humanity drifts further and further into rebellion against its Loving Creator, convincing itself that it knows better, and that God is a fallacy or a fable … as the surrounding culture increasingly exalts itself against the will of the All-wise Word of God … His children need one another more and more. And we don’t need anything too profound from one another. What we need is partnership and inspiration. We need each other’s reminders that He is the Lord of love who “went about doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him,” (Acts 10:38) and that we are called to do the same. We need to meet together to lift up the praises of Jesus, the risen Lord, to gaze upon His glory, to worship Him in the beauty of holiness, to speak His Word of Life to one another, and to minister His grace to each other and to then to the world in the power of His Spirit.

We need each other. And somewhere, today, there is someone who needs you. Someone needs you to connect to them, to see them, to hear them, and to use your words to speak life to them, to encourage them, to spur them on to love and good deeds. Who will it be?

Lord Jesus, guide me to the one person who needs life-giving words of hope, love, encouragement and inspiration today. Then fill my mouth with those words, I pray. Amen.
