Daily Reading: Psalm 36

Yesterday, Psalm 33 announced the unfailing love of God for all humanity, and how He has fashioned each human being individually, in love. Today Psalm 36 particularly points to the generous love of God which is poured out when someone turns to God in faith and “takes refuge” in Him.

⁷ How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
    People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
⁸ They feast in the abundance of your house;
    you give them drink from your river of delights.
⁹ For with you is the fountain of life;
    in your light we see light.
¹⁰ Continue your love to those who know you,
    your righteousness to the upright in heart.

To respond to God’s priceless, unfailing love is to discover an abundance of generous grace, delight, life and light. To be at home in his love is to discover that everything about God is abundant. He offers us not merely delight, but a river of delights; not merely life, but a fountain of life; not only light, but such light that we even “see light”. In the light of His immense love, we can only bow in grateful awe and wonder!

God of infinite, unfailing love, I take refuge in You. I am eager to discover all that You have in store for me, but I long for You even more – only You. I’m so overwhelmed by Your love for me, and so grateful that it does not depend on my worthiness. Truly, Your love is unfathomable and priceless! I bow in grateful awe and wonder. Amen
