Saved forever

Daily Reading: Revelation 7:9-17

Key verses:

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice:

‘Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.’

What a glorious vision of our future reality. Certainly this particular multitude is identified as those Christians who have come through the great tribulation (v.14), but their reality as revealed to the apostle John will be our reality beyond the grave too. Their salvation is no different to ours. It comes as a free gift of grace from our God, generally, and from Jesus the Lamb of God, specifically.

These saints in the Revelation, and our loved ones who have been in the Lord Jesus by faith and have died physically, and we ourselves one day, will all experience the glorious fullness of our salvation, which entails being before the throne of God, serving Him day and night in his temple; being sheltered with His presence, never hungering or thirsting again, never suffering at the hands of the elements of this fallen world again. And all of this because the Lamb of God will be our Shepherd and will lead us to the springs of living water and God will wipe away every tear from our eyes.

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your great salvation which is ours today in this world, and which will be ours in all its fullness, forever in glory with You. Hallelujah! Amen.
