Bible Reading Plan & Devotions

From Monday 12 February, the weekday daily blog posts will focus on a chapter (or sometimes two) of the New Testament. This aligns with our Walmer Methodist Church Annual Bible Reading Plan (available for download on the Resources Page of this blog). The readings will cover the entire New Testament over the rest of 2024. The Plan also includes a Psalm per day. Weekends are for catching up if you fall behind.

I hope you’ll benefit from the journey by reading the designated NT chapter of the day prayerfully for yourself, and considering whether it reveals:

S – A sin you need to confess and repent of, or

P – A promise you need to cling to, or

E – An example (either a good one to follow or a bad one to avoid), or

C – A command to obey, or

K – Some knowledge about God or yourself.

Make a note in your journal of anything that stands out for you.

Then read my brief daily reflection in the blog post (which will be on a few select verses of the chapter) and consider the “Life Application Challenge” at the end of each post.

You may want to read the Psalm in your morning devotions too, but what I have found particularly helpful to my own spiritual journey is to use the daily Psalm in a time of Evening Prayer. A Guide to a helpful method for Evening Prayer can be downloaded here.

May 2024 bring us all much spiritual growth as we commit to the Ancient Paths of

  • Reading and meditating on God’s Written Word
  • Prayer, and
  • Christian Action
  • Together, as a ‘virtual’ Discipleship Community.
