Daily Readings: Mark 16 and Psalm 69
6 ‘Don’t be alarmed,’ he said. ‘You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, “He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.”’
Today we are reminded that Jesus did not only choose the Path of Truth in His various trials. This had been His life since day one. He didn’t only choose to live by Truth, He is the Truth. And, in His resurrection, we realise that even the most unlikely promises of Jesus are found to be true.
In Mark 8:31, 9:31 and 10:34, Jesus had promised in so many words that He would rise on the third day. He had spoken the truth about His betrayal, suffering and death, and they had not wanted to believe Him. He had spoken the truth about His resurrection and they had found it impossible to believe Him. But everything He had said had come to pass, and now He was alive again!
How absolutely awesome it is to know that no matter how unlikely the promises of Jesus appear to be, He is the Truth, and therefore, His promises will be fulfilled. No matter what it takes, Jesus will be True to His Word.
Life application: Is the same true for you? Do you make and break promises easily? Or are you a person of your word no matter what the cost might be? Let’s choose to follow Jesus today and keep our word no matter what.
