Indwelling, overflowing Love

Daily Readings: Ephesians 3 and Psalm 140

16 I pray that out of his glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

What a beautiful prayer!

Imagine the impact of this prayer being answered for the members of our local Church. Imagine every member of your local church or fellowship group experiencing the overflowing fullness of the power and love of the Lord Jesus Christ, who dwells in us by His Spirit. Imagine their overwhelming joy as they revel in the experience of Christ’s immeasurable love for them. Imagine their sense of awe and wonder as they are filled to the absolute brim with the presence of God Himself.

Even more so, imagine the incredible impact on our communal life when every one of us shares the same experience of Christ’s indwelling love and power. Imagine when we are empowered to encounter this love not only inwardly and individually by the Spirit, but also as it overflows between us in loving relationship too. Imagine when each member becomes an instrument of the vast love of Christ to every other member. Imagine the outcome on your church. Imagine the impact on your witness to the world.

Life Application: Pray these verses of the Word of God over your local Church today.

Heavenly Father, out of Your glorious riches please strengthen every member of Walmer Methodist Church (or insert your church’s name) with power – through Your Spirit in our inner being, so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. Root and establish us in Your love. Give us the power – in our relationships with one another as Your holy people – to experience the full width, length, height and depth of the love of Christ, and to so fully know and experience this love that surpasses knowledge that we become filled with Your overflowing fullness! Amen.
