Daily Readings: Colossians 1-2 and Psalm 146
The apostle Paul wrote a letter to Christians living in the small city of Colossae while he was in prison in Rome. His point in writing it was to encourage them with the wonderful truth about their Lord Jesus Christ.
Chapters 1-2 are filled with revelation about the glories of Christ our Lord and what He has accomplished for us, His beloved people.
Christ is the image of the invisible God. In Him all the fullness of God dwells in bodily form. In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Through Him and for Him all things were created, and it is He Who holds all created things together. Jesus Christ is God in all His fullness, and He revealed God to us by His life, death and resurrection.
Now, exalted above all powers and dominions and enthroned in glory, Jesus pours His life into His beloved people when we receive Him by faith. By faith in Him we are redeemed from slavery to the power of sin, we are forgiven, reconciled to God, cleansed of all the pollution of our past sins, and we have peace with God. Christ Himself now comes to dwell in us to make us truly alive and to reveal His glory through us.
Lilfe application: Think about this wonderful truth throughout the day: God revealed His glory through Christ. Now Christ lives in us to reveal His glory through us! How can I more fully reveal the glory of Jesus Christ in every action and interaction today?
