Psalm of the Day: Psalm 5
O Lord, my Holy God and King
It is my joy to bow before You in this early morning hour
to offer my life this day in humble surrender.

I know that You,
in Your holiness,
despise, resist, and banish from Your presence
all rebellion, wickedness, evil, arrogance, violence and deceit,
along with all who cling to them!
But, whenever I come to You in honesty and humility, to love You and worship You in awe and reverence,
I experience Your merciful, unfailing love.

So, I come to You again today,
with absolute confidence,
pleading for refuge and protection throughout this day.
If today I should find myself opposed by malicious and deceitful people
striving to destroy me with their words,
give me the grace not to fight fire with fire
but instead to hold my peace,
to trust in You to defend, protect, rescue, and deliver me, and
to walk so closely with You that I will avoid all the snares set for me.
I trust You to deal justly with those who seek my downfall.
I trust You to bless my life and to restore my joy.
Let it be so!
