Psalm 22

Almighty God,
You are enthroned forever in holiness.
We, Your people, bring You praise, honour and worship.
We proclaim the wonders You have done
and bring You our offering of thanks.

We praise You for Your wondrous work
in sending Your One and Only Begotten Son
to live and die for our salvation.

We praise You, Jesus, Son of God
that in Your great love for us
You gave up the glory of heaven
and stepped into our darkness –
absorbing the full horror of our sin,
soaking up the darkness of our death,
bearing the full brunt of our rebellion and pride.
You, Whom angels worship eternally.
My God, my God:
You suffered the despair of our isolation,
You suffered our hatred, our scorn and derision,
You suffered our violence, cruelty, rejection,
You suffered our weakness, our pain and our dying.
You willingly soaked it all in and You died.

We proclaim the wonders You have done
and bring You our offering of thanks.

Our Resurrected King of Glory:
We look for the day
when people of every nation and tribe
will worship You;
when the proud will bow low and enthrone You as King,
and every generation will serve You and tell of Your glories.
