Psalm 36

Lord of Unfailing Love:
For the times I have chosen the wrong path
and fallen into the ways of the wicked;
For those seasons in which I have forgotten my love and reverence for You –
when my self-centredness has blinded me to my sin,
when my words and actions have become corrupted,
when I have been dragged downwards into compromise and evil,
and been overcome by guilt and shame;
Please forgive me, Lord!

God of Grace:
Wondrously, You have never shamed me.
You have only ever loved me with unfailing love.
You have remained ever faithful,
ever righteous,
ever just,
ever caring –
my Perfect God Who never changes and never fails.

Instead of rejecting me, You have invited me
into Your arms of limitless love,
into the protection of Your presence,
into the abundance of Your life-giving forgiveness and cleansing.

So today, O Lord, I come to You and plead:
Defeat the power and presence of evil in my life,
once and for all!
Pour Your undeserved love and goodness into my life,
and keep me in Your arms forever.
Amen.
