Psalm 38

O LORD,
when days of darkness come over me –
days of pain and suffering in my body,
days of soul-weariness and despair,
days of grief and mourning –
keep me safe from the one
who accuses You of causing my suffering!
LORD,
keep me safe from his flaming arrows
of guilt and shame.
Please forgive me for every sin,
and cleanse me by Your grace.

O LORD,
When I am isolated from the ones I love,
and when betrayal and hatred hang thick in the air;
When I am confused and perplexed,
and when answers just will not come;
When despair is overwhelming,
and death seems just a heartbeat away.
LORD,
do not abandon me,
for I trust in You.

I trust in You, O LORD.
You are my Help and my Saviour!
I believe in You with all my heart.
You are my Help and my Saviour!
