Psalm 44

Lord, my King and my God:
I look around me now
and, in honesty,
confess:
I’m overwhelmed.
I’m drowning in doubt.
I’m forgotten and forsaken,
abandoned and alone.
The foundations of my faith are failing,
my world is crumbling,
my life, disintegrating
day by day.
Have You really cast me aside?
Have You really turned away?

No!
I cannot surrender to these lies.

Lord, my King and my God,
I look back on my life,
I listen to the testimonies of the faithful,
and this I know with all my heart:
You love Your people!
You are always, always with us!
You never leave us nor forsake us!
You have saved us and delivered us,
from danger and despair.
Every enemy, You’ve overcome.
Every battle, You have won.
You are always, always with us,
Your love never, never fails!

So, right now
even in my darkest night,
in defiant faith I declare:
I will give You thanks,
I will praise You,
I will trust You with all my heart,
Lord, my King and my God!
