Psalm 51

Holy, holy, holy God,
I have failed and fallen short in so many ways.
I have done what is wicked and evil.
I have polluted my heart,
and poisoned my relationships with others.
Worst of all,
and through it all,
I have sinned against You,
and proven myself rotten to the core.

In absolute reliance
on Your unfailing love
and Your infinite mercy
I pray,
please:

Wash away my sins and cleanse my heart
Wipe out the record of my wrongdoings
and purify my polluted heart.
Heal and restore everything I have broken,
within and without.

Create in me a new and pure heart.
Wipe away my sorrow and restore my joy.
Give me life in Your presence again.
Fill me with Your Holy Spirit,
with wisdom and discernment,
and the power to live a life
pleasing to You in every way.

Purify my lips and I will praise You
and proclaim Your goodness all my days.
My life will testify
to Your transforming love.

All I have to offer You
is my broken life
and this sincere and honest plea
from a humble and repentant heart,
in absolute reliance on
Your unfailing love
and Your infinite mercy,
now and forever.
