Lord Jesus,
Glorious Lord and Saviour of all,
You have redeemed me from death
and led me in the Way of Eternal Life.
And yet,
to my shame:
Time and again I have fallen into the trap
of believing that there is a better way than Yours;
I have looked for the easier way,
the way that is more
profitable,
comfortable,
pleasurable,
acceptable,
expedient.
Please forgive me
for betraying You in my heart and mind.
Even worse:
Time and again I have acted on that lie
and have chosen the path that
rejects the authority
of Your loving, life-giving Lordship.
Please forgive me
for betraying You with my life.
Holy Spirit,
Please wash away my guilt and shame,
change my heart,
open my eyes,
and lead me in the way of
joyful surrender,
faithful love,
and courageous loyalty
to Jesus, my Lord and King.
