Lord, my Fortress and Defender,
I sing for joy in Your presence,
with shouts of ‘Hallelujah!’
and songs of loudest praise,
with horns and trumpets blasting
and hands aloft, upraised.
For when I called to You,
in grace You heard my plea,
You came to my aid
and set me free.
Lord, why do I ever ignore You?
Why do I block my ears?
Why do I look anywhere else
for protection from my fears.
I cannot understand myself,
my doubts and needless tears.
Today I choose!
I turn to You.
I trust in You,
I open up my ears,
I surrender my will.
I trust and obey
and I will walk in Your Way
of blessing and peace
of victory and grace.
Today and forever,
Amen.
