Psalm 88

LORD, You are my Saviour and my God
and when I cry to You in prayer
You hear me and You care!

I cry to You, LORD, over and over,
especially when
troubles overwhelm me and
death feels but a breath away;
when all my strength has failed and
all my hope is gone.

I cry to You, LORD, over and over,
even when it feels like
You have turned away from me and
abandoned me because of my sin;
Even when my closest friends
have forgotten all about me and
I’m trapped in lonely sorrow and despair.

I cry to You, LORD, over and over
even when all I have is questions.
Questions like,
Why would You not save me, LORD?
If I die,
I can’t display Your wonders;
I can’t declare Your love and faithfulness,
or announce the wonders of Your righteousness.

So, even when I feel nothing but
hopelessness and despair,
and I am overwhelmed by fear and darkness,
I cry to You, LORD, over and over.
Morning by morning my prayer
rises like incense to Your throne!
Because You are my Saviour and my God,
and when I cry to You in prayer
You hear me and You care!
