Psalm 94

LORD, God of Justice

I know that You see the wickedness
of those
who terrorise the innocent with violence,
who oppress Your children,
who murder widows, orphans and foreigners
with apparent impunity.

I know that You hear the pride and arrogance
of those
who boast and blaspheme,
who believe they’ll get off scot-free
by the power of their intimidation,
bribery and corruption.

Lord, You made our ears –
I know You hear it all.
You made our eyes –
I know You see it all.
You gave us understanding –
I know You know
every hidden thought and inclination
of every human heart.

LORD, You are faithful
and full of unfailing love.

Therefore,
I know You will rescue Your people
and bless us with safety and security.
I know You will comfort us in sorrow
and fill our hearts with joy.
I know You will still our anxiety
and fill us with Your peace.
I know You will defend us and protect us
and bring every evildoer to justice
in the end.

For all this I pray today!
And in You, O Lord,
I put my trust.
Amen.
