LORD, my Sovereign God
You rule over all things by Your power and love.
Please protect me from those
who are willing to do anything
and to use any means possible
to get their own way.
They plot, they quarrel,
they gossip, they slander,
they falsely accuse
and spread their poison
with words that fly like arrows,
like the spitting cobra’s venom.
Keep me safe, I pray
from the power and influence
of those who long to see me fail.
Sovereign God, Almighty Defender
Thank You for Your loving protection.
I do not want harm to befall
those who seek my downfall;
only that You would render them
powerless to do me harm,
powerless to harm anyone
who pursues Your will.
