What a week of remembrance it has been. I hope and pray that this past week of reflection blessed your walk with the Lord, but also that it will add great value to our Thanksgiving Services at Walmer on Sunday, as we gather to give glory, thanks and praise to the Lord!
For our final day of reflection, let’s think about some of the liberating blessings of forgiveness and freedom that God has graciously poured into our lives this year.
The Psalmist had clearly spent some time doing just that when he wrote:
1 Blessed is the one
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
2 Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord does not count against them
and in whose spirit is no deceit…
5 (W)hen I acknowledged my sin to you
and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, ‘I will confess
my transgressions to the Lord.’
And you forgave
the guilt of my sin.
7 You are my hiding-place;
you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance.
10 Many are the woes of the wicked,
but the Lord’s unfailing love
surrounds the one who trusts in him.
11 Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous;
sing, all you who are upright in heart!
(Psalm 32:1-2, 5, 7, 10-11)
Let’s take time to reflect on 2025 again and to remember:
- The ways God has poured grace and forgiveness into my life;
- The spiritual victories over sin which God has brought about in my life;
- The spiritual experiences of God’s presence, love and power that I have had this year…
Please make a list in your journal (or on a sheet of paper) now. Then keep it handy throughout the day to add to it as memories of God’s goodness in your spiritual life re-emerge.
Lord, You have loved me perfectly, even in my moments of sinful weakness, ignorance and rebellion. I thank You with all my heart! Amen.
