Coming Home on Thursday

Daily Reading: Matthew 9:1-13

Lord Jesus, to that man – cut off from any hope of finding God by a lifetime of judgment, believing that he was a worhtless reject, cursed to spend his life on the beggars mat of paralysis because of his own sins – You stretched out a heart of love, and with words of love and power You brought him safely home to the family of God. Hallelujah! What a Saviour!

Lord Jesus, to that man – weighed down by his own burden of guilt at the choices he had made; dragged under by the current of his community’s condemnation – You stretched out a heart of love, and with words and deeds of welcome and embrace, You led him to the light and shattered the shackles of shame. You gave the repentant sinner mercy, and You brought him safely home to the family of God. Hallelujah! What a Saviour!

Lord Jesus, here I am. Bring me home to the love of God again today; for You are my Saviour too. Then turn me around to face outward, and use me in turn to bring others home to the love of God, through echoing Your words and deeds of love, forgiveness, welcome and pardon. Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
