A Change of Season

If you’re a regular reader of the Blog you’ll know that we have just finished a season of “Praying the Psalms”. This morning I posted my prayer based on Psalm 150 – the final Psalm in a magnificent Book of Sacred Scripture.

My rhythm throughout this particular blogging season was to get up nice and early each morning, read and reflect on the day’s Psalm, and then write it out by hand as a prayer in my own words on either one or two pages of my journal. (The exception was Psalm 119, which I worked on for a while in advance, for obvious reasons). Thereafter I would type it out for the blog post which I would schedule to be released early on the following morning.

Very occasionally I would write some other reflections on a page or two, but I mainly reserved this particular journal for the Psalms.

Although each page of the journal has a brief, random Scripture verse printed at the base of the page, I did not pay much attention to them as I went along. However, yesterday, 150 week-days (30 weeks) after starting this project, as I placed the exclamation mark beside the “We praise You, LORD!” at the end of my prayer based on Psalm 150, my eye caught the verse printed at the bottom of that particular page. Here it is …

I found this strangely meaningful. A God-incidence that somehow encouraged and confirmed for me that this season had been pleasing to the LORD. That, after all, is what its all about.

So thank you for joining me for a lovely season in the Psalms.

I do hope you’ll stick around for the coming season, which will be a slow devotional meander through the Book of Proverbs. But please remember that you can unsubscribe/un-follow at any time. I am not notified of who unsubscribes and I assure you that, even if I was, I would not take any offence whatsoever. I know for myself how someone’s writing can feel helpful for a while and then I feel the need to move to something different. May the Lord bless you if you depart. And may the Lord continue to bless you if you stick around!

Dave
