Having spent time yesterday thinking about the very physical ways God has blessed us this year, let’s return to the less tangible (but no less real) blessings of God’s work in our lives. Listen to how the Psalmist declares God’s goodness:
17 The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help.
He rescues them from all their troubles.
18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;
he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
Psalm 34:17-18
We know that God is always with us. However, in our times of deepest need, in moments of desperation, anxiety, fear, danger or grief, God draws even nearer in inexpressible ways by His Spirit. So let us strive to remember today how, in 2025, God has:
- Strengthened me and comforted me in times of great difficulty or pain;
- Turned around even the very difficult and painful situations in my life and used them for my good and for His glory;
- Grown me and matured me spiritually or personally through my trials and difficulties;
- Worked supernaturally or miraculously to deliver me from such experiences!
Remember to make a list in your journal (or on a sheet of paper). Then keep it handy throughout the day to add to it as memories of God’s goodness in your spiritual life re-emerge.
Thank You, Lord, that You always draw nearer to me in my times of trouble. Thank You for loving me through deep waters, for bringing good out of evil in my life, for strengthening and maturing me, and even miraculously delivering me at times. I love You, Lord! Amen.
